Xitou Nature Education Area Full Ticket (Includes a Gift Box of 4 Touring Mountain Tea + Guided Tour Service)

In recognition of the importance of natural education, Xitou serves as a natural outdoor classroom, where people learn from nature and find an optimal setting. The Xitou Forest is multifunctional, supporting forest education, timber production, national land security, and forest recreation. This ticket package specially includes a “Touring Mountain Tea” gift box (4 pieces). The exhibit not only provides a brief history of Taiwanese tea development but also offers firsthand insights into the production and types of Taiwanese tea, through tea tasting, comparison, and staff explanations, enhancing understanding of various Taiwanese teas.

︱Xitou Nature Education Area (Full Ticket)

The Xitou Nature Education Area is a concave valley surrounded by mountains on three sides, with the highest elevation at Lingtou Mountain to the south at 2,025 meters. Extending north to the Fenghuang Mountain range, forming the eastern boundary of the area, and west to the Neishu and other mountains turning northward, these form the southern and western ridgeline boundaries. The valley flows between two mountain ranges, exiting to the north. The main altitude ranges from 800 to 2,000 meters.

According to data from the Xitou Weather Station, the monthly average temperature ranges from 11.0 to 20.8°C, with an annual average temperature of 16.6°C; the average annual rainfall is 2,635.18 mm. Characterized by a warm and humid climate, there is no water shortage throughout the year, and effective temperatures are not concentrated in the summer, making it particularly suitable for locals seeking a summer retreat.

▲ University Pond

The University Pond offers a stunning and ethereal scenery that enchants visitors, occasionally shrouded in a light mist, resembling a dreamlike state. It is a popular spot for young couples and adds a touch of romance. At the University Pond, you can see an arch bridge made of Phyllostachys bamboo, and observe the interesting knee root phenomenon in bald cypress. During August and September, you can witness the breeding of Sauter's frog; and in spring, enjoy the blooming mountain cherry blossoms. If you rise early, you can also catch the bathing rituals of the Taiwan yuhina.

▲ Phoenix Mountain Observatory

The observatory's hemispherical roof can rotate 360 degrees, with a large skylight opened in the roof. Through the astronomical telescope, you can explore the mysteries of the universe from here. Established by the Department of Physics at National Taiwan University, this research-grade telescope is situated at an elevation of 1,800 meters, surrounded by forests, which minimizes light pollution and provides a clear view of the starry sky at night.

▲ Ginkgo Forest

Ginkgo trees are known for their beautiful form and seasonal leaf changes, each season offering a unique charm: green in spring and summer, yellow in autumn, and bare in winter, presenting a different vista. In Taiwan, ginkgo is commonly known as "white fruit," with edible seeds and toxic seed coats. As ginkgo trees are sparsely distributed across Taiwan, the ginkgo plantation in Xitou is quite remarkable. Next to the Ginkgo Forest, the "Luliao Pit" formed after the Taizhi Wind disaster serves as an excellent outdoor classroom to experience the forces of nature.
